The One Minutes x Rozenstraat: Micro-Composition by Cally Spooner

Viola Yeşiltaç, FALIM, 2017

San Serriffe and ROZENSTRAAT present Micro-Composition, curated by Cally Spooner.

With an introduction by Cally Spooner, and a reading of Gertrude Stein’s Composition as Explanation, Micro-Composition will premiere 24 June 7pm at San Serriffe II, their second shop at a new art space in Amsterdam (NL), Rozenstraat 59.

Micro-Composition consists of 12 One Minute contributions invited by Spooner from writers, musicians, exhibition makers, architects and poets who understand well that, no matter how brief, and how urgently assembled, a composition is a composition because it is a continuous present. A distribution of patience, duration, time-sense and equilibrium; an ‘arrangement made’.
In June, the series tours museums and cultural spaces around the world subscribed to The One Minutes.

Ghislaine Leung, Am Nuden Da, Viola Yeşiltaç, Danae Papazymouri, Angelo Custodio, Tyler Coburn, Alex Cecchetti, Roberto Fassone, Jean-Pascal Flavien, David Cunningham, Public Fiction, Jesper List Thomsen.

Cally Spooner is an event maker and a writer (born in 1983) operating in a space where references to books, theoretical treatises, films, pop songs or talk shows find arrangements in unsynced forms; live productions, film installations, choreography and sound, as well as fiction, readings and scripts.
Spooner lives and works in Athens and London. Her most recent solo shows include The New Museum, New York, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. Her recent group shows include Serpentine Gallery and the Geneva Moving Image Biennial. Her book of Scripts is published by Slimvolume, and her novel Collapsing In Parts is published by Mousse. She is the current writer in residence at the Whitechapel Gallery, London.

The One Minutes is a global network devoted to moving image. Every month, a different artist is asked to put together a new series of 60-
second films that investigate how we perceive and engage with moving image. Museums and cultural organisations around the world subscribe to the series.
