Reading Group – Yes, There Will be Singing in Dark Times (Kathy Acker)

Throughout the duration of Yes, There Will Be Singing In Dark Times ROZENSTRAAT is organizing a reading group to delve into various themes including desire, eroticism, queer love, the female condition, sex, intimacy, geographical and imaginary migrations. Over four sessions, we will discuss and reflect upon a curated selection of poems and novel excerpts by Cecilia Vicuña, Kathy Acker, Angélica Freitas, Cecilia Pavón, and Pedro Lemebel.

During each session, we aim to cultivate a space of collectivity and dialogue that will deepen our resonance with Schouten’s exhibition. We seek to dismantle dichotomies surrounding the body, perceiving it as both combative and sensitive, contemplative and provocative, vulnerable and courageous, seductive and challenging.

Each session will run for approximately two hours and will include readings, reflective discussions, and the sharing of poetry and novel excerpts. Material for discussion will be provided at least one week prior to each session. The workshop will take place at ROZENSTRAAT on Wednesday evenings (time tbd) on May 29, June 12, June 26 and July 3.
