Reading group She Keeps Them Warm With Her Skirt

As part of the exhibition She Keeps Them Warm With Her Skirt by AnnaMaria Pinaka, ROZENSTRAAT is organizing a reading group happening over three Thursday evenings. Together, we will explore poetry and fiction from authors whose work critically dialogue with the voices embodied in Pinaka’s exhibition.
Through a curated selection of literary fragments—poems, novel excerpts, and prose—we create a temporary commons, delving into texts by Clarice Lispector, Jack Halberstam, Johanna Hedva, Ariana Reines, Sylvia Plath, Katerina Gogou and Susana Thénon.
During each session, we seek to cultivate a space of collectivity and dialogue that deepens our resonance with Pinaka’s work.We unfold themes of queerness, childhood longings, desire and disgust that cling to bodies and objects, altering vulnerabilities, unruly appetites, and the undoing of stereotypical frameworks, opening a reflective site where agency is endlessly becoming. These explorations resonate with Pinaka’s portrayal of princesses freed from the imperial icon and conventional femininity, whose mutable figures embody childhood’s fluid potential and resist fixed definitions, opening a multiplicity of possibilities and intersections of ‘the feminine.’
Each session will run approximately two hours, including readings, reflective discussion, and shared responses to the texts. Materials for each session will be sent at least one week in advance.
During this session we will dive into fragments of Your Love Is Not Good by Johanna Hedva and a selection of poems by Ariana Reina from The Cow.
It is possible to join only one or various gatherings. To register please send an email to info@rozenstraat.com. There is only a limited capacity to join.
The sessions are led by Jimena Casas.
