Over three consecutive Thursday evenings, we gather at ROZENSTRAAT for a reading group in dialogue with the exhibition Melted for Love, presented as part of the Sonic Acts Biennial.
Together we read a selection of poems, fiction and theory that resonate with the themes and perspectives presented in the exhibition. The texts explore ancestral knowledge, dreams, justice, mourning, and ecofeminist thought – drawing on absurdity and ritual to unsettle the ordinary.
To kiss the ground, to murmur, to remember, to chant.
The readings unfold in close relation to the works by Eglé Budvytyté, Eliana Otta, Nikolay Karabinovych, Kivu Ruhorahoza and Christian Nyampeta, tracing threads between landscape and body, movement and memory, grief and breath. Together we carry the questions proposed by the artists and authors into a shared space of listening, conversation and reflection.
Dreaming is a way of knowing, of staying, of repairing. Naming petals at night, with our backs to the moon.
Each session takes place in English and lasts approximately two hours. No prior experience is required. Participants may read the full texts or selected fragments and are welcome to attend one or multiple gatherings. Materials for each session will be sent one week in advance.
The reading group is guided by Jimena Casas.
