Salon #4 with AnnaMaria Pinaka & Deniz Unal

Join us for an afternoon with a performance, a special birthday cake and a walk & talk with the artist and curators Angeliki Tzortzakaki and Madelon van Schie.

The performance Princess Diaries V by London-based visual artist Deniz Unal and AnnaMaria Pinaka, is presented in the framework of the latter’s solo exhibition She Keeps Them Warm with Her Skirt. Deniz Unal and AnnaMaria Pinaka have been friends and long-lasting collaborators since they met working as ushers, at the ICA in London, when they were both 24 years old. Since then, they have been witnessing and supporting each other from close and afar.

On Saturday the 7th of June, they will meet again to unfold and unravel secrets, whispers, reenacting roles and family dynamics, and make a scene – a sabotage of ugly-witch truths and buried fairy tales to trace moments of transformation; from adolescence to motherhood.

After the performance, we will serve a remake of AnnaMaria’s 8th birthday cake and revisit this magical childhood together—a time when everything is still possible and the boundaries of identity are fluid and porous. We will conclude with a walk & talk through and about the exhibition.
