Eagle Amsterdam is a gay dance club with a strictly men-only audience. The bar has a dark room, slings and special theme nights. While reading about pro-sex feminist, punk poet and essayist Kathy Acker, Eagle Amsterdam (in collaboration with Rozenstraat – a rose is a rose is a rose) came up with the idea to organize a screening of performance videos and a live performance event by female artists. This event is accessible for both male and female audiences.
A collaboration between an art space and a gay dance club provides an opportunity to unite people in a space, and provides an atmosphere, in which fixed ideas of people and spaces can be discussed and seen in a new light.
